Thank you, Clan Thistle!

Twelve fundraisers take part in the Kiltwalk raising money to support people with disabilities and long-term health conditions across Scotland.

We were so pleased to have 12 people take part in the Kiltwalk last week! Hannah, our Community Fundraiser, was there on the day to support and encourage Clan Thistle. Here is her report.

On Sunday we had people taking part in all three walks. The day started at 8.30am at Bingham Medway with Mishkat and Siwei who were taking on the Mighty Stride (21.3 miles). Once they set off on their journey, I travelled to Murrayfield to meet Ania and Sebastian who were doing the Big Stroll (13 miles). I then got on my electric bike, borrowed from Thistle Outdoors (thanks team!), and cycled to Cramond to meet our Wee Wanderers.

Once I arrived at Cramond, I saw that all the Thistle walkers doing the Wee Wander (four miles) had already met thanks to their matching Thistle t-shirts! This included Aaron, who we support, along with his team of Personal Assistants – Garry, Jackie and Sean and Sue, who is a new member of the Fundraising Team. We also had some walkers from get2gether, an organisation that has their office within Thistle's Centre of Wellbeing – Katrina, Colin and Robert. We enjoyed the view over to Fife and took some photos with Fife in the background, as that is where Aaron and his team live.

Sir Tom Hunter was at the starting line for the Wee Wander. He gave a speech and then we had a minute’s silence to mark the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

As the last walk of the day got underway, that was my cue to cycle back to Murrayfield, ready to meet all of our walkers (and amazing fundraisers) at the finish line. Becky from the Fundraising Team joined me and we cheered on all the walkers as they arrived. The Wee Wanderers arrived first, followed by the Mighty Striders and then the Big Strollers, with everyone receiving a medal and a hot meal provided by Kiltwalk, which was gratefully received, the mac and cheese proving to be a firm favourite!
