Wellbeing Practitioner Training
About the course
This 10 week, 3 hour per session online course introduces Health and Social care practitioners to the principles and practices of rehabilitation and prepares them to adopt a personal outcomes, strengths based approach to their practice.
Course content:
Introduction to person centred approach; biopsychosocial model; health inequalities, social determinants, inclusion;
core (generic) rehabilitation and self-management,knowledge and skills (competency framework);
Awareness of public health concerns;
Good Conversations and Care and Support Planning.
Delivering group based self management programmes
Framework for reflective practice, supervision, and practice development.
Who the course is for
This course is for those who may not have a traditional health and care qualification and want to develop this role in their service area. Examples are those working in leisure services providing non-specialised rehabilitation or working in general practice alongside health care professionals.
Session Format
In these highly participatory practice development sessions the facilitators will encourage participants to bring and use their existing knowledge and experience to contribute to the learning experience. A variety of learning methods will be used and range from demonstration, video, group exercises, practice exercises and discussion. Time and support will be provided during the sessions to plan and prepare to carry out action inquiries or small tests of change back in the workplace between learning sessions.

Course outcome
Practitioners will have the knowledge, confidence and skills to have Good Conversations to support – self management to improve health outcomes with the opportunity to develop skills further to deliver Lifestyle Management courses in their area. They will be able to call themselves a Wellbeing Practitioner.
